About Blue Gray Towing
Down-to-Earth Service Since 1993
Blue Gray Towing has served Western Maryland and South-Central Pennsylvania since 1993. We’re a veteran-owned company, and we’ve always believed in keeping things straightforward. Treat people right, do what you say you’ll do, and stand behind your work.
That’s what our word is our bond means at Blue Gray. It’s been part of how we do business for more than 30 years, and it’s still how we approach every call today.

How Blue Gray Got Its Start
Blue Gray Towing was established in 1993. Roy came to the company a few years later with a background in auto repair and a growing interest in towing. He entered the towing business with Free State Towing in 1996 and purchased Blue Gray in July 1997.
For Roy, towing was another way to use what he knew to help people. A lot has changed since those early years. The fleet has grown, the equipment has gotten bigger, and the jobs have become more complex. The reason for doing the work hasn’t changed.
Today, Blue Gray Towing operates more than 22 trucks and handles roadside calls, towing, transport, and recovery throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania.
22+ Trucks. Two Rotators. One Call.
Blue Gray has grown into a light-, medium-, and heavy-duty towing and recovery operation with the equipment to stay with a job as it gets more complicated. Our fleet handles roadside assistance, accident recovery, heavy recovery, equipment transport, cargo work, and commercial towing.
The heavy side includes 35-ton and 50-ton rotators, a Landoll, an RGN lowboy, and two drop-deck trailers. That gives our operators the equipment for overturned tractor-trailers, difficult winch-outs, vehicle uprighting, load shifts and transfers, and heavy equipment transport.
Commercial support doesn’t end at the recovery scene. We provide roadside semi service and operate a heavy-duty repair shop in Hagerstown for truck and trailer repairs that need more than a roadside fix.

Training Matters When the Work Gets Difficult
Heavy recovery equipment doesn’t replace experience and training. Our team has completed industry training through WreckMaster, Miller Rotator School, TIMS, and Whopper, building the skills needed for towing, traffic incident response, rotator operation, and complex recovery work.
Our company also maintains drug and alcohol policies, requires yearly DOT physicals, and completes background checks required for AAA and police department work. Trucks are equipped with GPS and cameras and receive annual inspections to maintain DOT compliance.
AAA, Public Safety & the Towing Industry
Our work has made Blue Gray part of the transportation and public-safety network in the communities we serve. We provide towing support for state police and fire departments, work with AAA, and tow vehicles for programs that turn donated cars into support for veterans.
We’re also members of the Maryland Towing and Recovery Association and Pennsylvania Towing and Recovery Association. Staying involved in the industry helps keep our team connected to the standards, training, and issues affecting towing and recovery on both sides of the state line.

Part of the Community Outside the Tow Truck
More than three decades after Blue Gray Towing opened its doors, we’re still part of the communities that built the company. We participate in Touch-a-Truck events and sponsor Paws and Pistons, in addition to the everyday work we do for local drivers, businesses, fleets, and public agencies.
The trucks may be bigger, and the fleet may have grown, but we haven’t found a reason to complicate what worked in the beginning. Treat people right. Be prepared for the job. Do what you said you would do.
That’s Blue Gray Towing.
